My Other Lives

Although I have concentrated heavily on puzzles since around September 2011, I do other things too (somehow).

I hold a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Regina, but am now in my 4th-year of an undergraduate Computer Science degree at the same school (although at the moment I am on an 8 month internship in the networking department of the Government of Saskatchewan's Ministry of Education). Within the world of CS, my research/development projects have included a 3D motion-capture system using a hacked XBox Kinect and C++/OpenGL, an algorithmic music composition program written in SuperCollider, and (surprise!) a crossword construction suite (currently in development, but I use bits and pieces to manage and search my wordlists).

I am also musician, composer, and active member of the local music scene. I play bass clarinet with various ensembles at the uni, all sorts of crazy noisy percussion with the UofR percussion ensemble, and bass guitar with a schwack of local bands. I try to challenge myself and broaden my chops, so I play in a jazz duo, a 50s-70s cover band, an indie rock outfit, and a prog metal trio, as well as ephemeral one-off projects. If you're in the GRA (greater Regina area) and need a bassist, hit me up; I rock the house, guaranteed.
